Legislative Chair Elections

When:  Legislative Chairs will be elected immediately following the Mass Meetings taking place in 2010 on a specific date in March TBD.  This is a State mandated date and cannot be changed by the Party.  The elections of Legislative Chairs must take place within 10 days of the election of Precienct officers at the Mass Meetings. 

Purpose:  To elect Party Chairs, Vice Chairs, and Secretaries to each Legislative District in the County.  The elected official will serve a two year term.  

Who: All Precinct officers elected at Mass Meetings will gather to elect their individual legislative chairs.  Anyone can run to be Legislative Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary.

Responsibilities:
  • To assist the County and State Democratic Parties to collect ongoing information about Democratic interest and individuals who will support Democratic Candidates.
  • To maintain Democratic activism and interest during the "down-times" - times when no campaigns, elections, nominations, or conventions are taking place.
  • To assist candidates running in an area that includes all or part of your legislative district.
  • To organize and keep activated the precienct officers under your jurisdiction who were elected at the last Caucus Meeting
  • To be a liason between Democratis in your district and the County and State Democratic Parties.
