Making Waves Newsletter 2024 April

Greetings, Fellow Democrats!

Welcome to the April edition of the SLCo Dems Making Waves newsletter! If you’re new here, this is our monthly look at recent happenings and what’s coming up soon. As spring blooms in Salt Lake County, so does our Democratic spirit. With the State Convention in the rearview mirror, there's an electrifying buzz in the air as we gear up to convene, connect, and chart our course for the upcoming election season. This edition serves as a beacon, guiding us through the excitement of the month and igniting the flame that will carry us through the bustling months ahead. Let's harness this momentum and get to know our candidates! Read on for more…

State Convention Recap

The 2024 Utah Democratic Party Nominating Convention was a huge success! With a couple thousand Democrats participating in person and virtually all across the state. Thank you to all of our Salt Lake County Delegates for showing up to support our candidates and vote for our 2024 nominees. Special shout-out to the UDP staff and EC for the work they did to make it a great Convention.

With (most of) our nominees decided now is the time to start supporting them! We are going to be running in overdrive the next 6 months to elect Democrats all across Salt Lake County and to flip the Salt Lake County Council blue for the first time in 16 years. We need everyone's help to elect these amazing candidates, so please sign up to volunteer and donate today to support our candidates!

Now that the State Convention is over we have more openings for Precinct Chair and Delegate positions! Interested in getting involved and supporting our wonderful new nominees by organizing your precinct? Click here to sign up to join our team!

Interested in attending one of our trainings? Our next training is May 4th from 10am to 12pm at our office 825 N 300w c400 (4th Floor). There are only a few spots left, so sign up soon and make sure to check back for future trainings!

Save the Date - Garden Party

Our annual Garden Party is coming up fast! This year’s Garden Party will be June 9th from 5:00 to 8:00pm. The Garden Party is one of our favorite events of the year with live music, fresh baked bread, fun drinks and Italian sodas, and tons of Democrats coming together to support our candidates! We’d love to see you there! Tickets will be released soon, so be on the lookout.

Interested in sponsoring the Garden Party? Please reach out to our Executive Director Nick Glenn at nick@slcountydems.com.

County Forum Luncheon

Our next County Forum Luncheon is coming up on May 16th with Guest Speaker: Rep Brian King, our newly nominated candidate for Governor! We are super excited to hear from Rep. King about his campaign. If you are a County Forum member please RSVP to Nick Glenn at nick@slcountydems.com.

Haven’t heard about the County Forum? The Salt Lake County Forum is our donor club where members donate to the SLCo Party and in return get free tickets to events like Politisauce, the Garden Party, and three special County Forum luncheons per year. County Forum members also get special perks like discounts to our merch store and a shout out at our events. Memberships start at $50/m or $600/y and all the money goes to electing more Democrats in Salt Lake County!

Thank You Spring Interns!: Harleen Saini and Ethan Hepworth

Harleen and Ethan have been wonderful interns this last semester from helping prepare for events like Caucus Night, Politisauce, and SLCo Convention, to working on our upcoming events posts, and keeping our ED Nick sane. Thank you to them for all the work they’ve done and we look forward to watching all the amazing things they do in the future.

In Closing…

With Primary elections on the horizon (55 days away), let's stand united in our commitment to progress, equality, and justice for all. Together, we have the power to make a difference. Stay informed, stay engaged, and let's partner to build a brighter, bluer future for Salt Lake County and beyond. We look forward to the journey ahead, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder.
