Suicide Prevention & Awareness Youth Vigil

  • Utah State Capitol 350 North State St. Salt Lake City (map)

Co-Sponsored by the Salt Lake County Democratic Caucus for People with Disabilities and Utah Democratic Caucus for People with Disabilities.

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Join YUTAC for a youth-led vigil at the State Capitol Rotunda on 9/26 at 6 PM.

Youth survivors/suicide loss survivors and advocates will share their stories. Then, we will open the the floor and invite anyone of any age to share their own story in an effort to destigmatize the topic of suicide, to raise awareness, and to support prevention in our community. In addition to our speakers, we will have banner that we encourage attendees to write down a message to/name of their lost loved ones on, or messages of hope and recovery. There is power is connection.

Given the sensitive nature of the topic, there will be advocates at this event to offer support, as well as information about local mental health resources. We will have an ADA seating section.
